This tournament format is designed to handle a large number of teams by dividing them into multiple groups, conducting round-robin matches within each group, eliminating lower-ranked teams, and then advancing the top performers into a final group where the ultimate winner (or top teams) is determined. The structure allows flexibility in scheduling, tiebreakers, and rewards based on the organizer's preferences.
1. Group Formation
-
Total Teams & Slots: The organizer sets a maximum number of teams per group (e.g., 20 slots per group).
- Example: teams with 20 slots per group → 2 groups (Group 1 & Group 2, each with 20 teams).
- If the number of teams is less than or equal to the max slots, all teams play in a single group.
2. Groups Stage
- Each group plays in a round-robin format, where every team faces every other team in their group at least once.
-
Points System:
- Teams accumulate points based on match performance, with scoring such as: +1 per elimination and placement points (e.g., +X for finishing in Y position).
- Rankings are determined by total points earned per match, per group, and overall tournament performance.
-
Elimination Rule:
- The organizer reserves the right to eliminate teams from further group matches if they consistently underperform (low rankings) or violate tournament rules.
3. Final Stage
-
Qualification:
- If only one group exists, all remaining (non-disqualified) teams will advance to the final stage.
-
with multiple groups, a set number of top-performing teams (N) from each group will advance to the next stage.
- For example, if the maximum number of slots is 20, there will be 40 teams divided into two groups — Group 1 and Group 2 — with 20 teams in each group. From each group, the top 10 teams will advance to the final round.
-
Bonus Points:
- Teams playing in the finals will receive an additional +999 points per match from TourIVers, helping to distinguish them from teams that did not make it to the finals.
-
Matches:
- The top teams from each group will compete in a round-robin format. Based on the points they earn, the teams will be ranked to determine the winners.
4. Tiebreakers
- The organizer decides how to break ties:
- If teams are tied on points at the end of the finals, additional matches may be organized. These matches could either involve all teams within the group or be limited specifically to the teams that are tied. The purpose of these additional matches is to clearly determine the final rankings and ensure a fair outcome based on performance.
- The organizer may make manual decisions based on the team's previous performance.
4. Prize Distribution
- The organizer rewards top N teams from the final group (e.g., top 3).
